Hey everyone. The following refers to comments we’ve gotten over on Tapas, but I thought I’d post it here too, since I feel it’s worth considering how we consume content on the internet:
If you cooked a free meal twice a week for your neighborhood, and there was always a group of people who showed up to complain about the food, how would you feel about that? I get that not everyone is digging Jace’s backstory. That’s fine. I’ll share something I’ve learned from all my years of publishing: No matter what you create, and no matter how good you or anyone else thinks it is, there will always be people who dislike it. You can’t please everyone, but an artist *can* stay true to their vision. That way, after all the time and money has been invested, at least they have the very thing they dreamed of creating. If you’re enjoying this comic, thank you! If you’re not sure about the current run but are sticking with us, thank you! If you’re posting negative comments more often than not, there are so many other creators out there who are desperately seeking an audience. Find someone who is creating the sort of content you want to support with positivity and encouragement. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, try making it yourself. At the very least, I promise it’ll forever change the way you react to other people’s efforts.
